Xi Jinping and Sir Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen Attended Signing Ceremony for the Extension of Joint Venture Contract of Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co.,Ltd. as Grandall Shenzhen Serves as Special Legal Advisors

October 10, 2009 - Shenzhen, China - A ceremony of signing for the extension of joint venture contract of Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co.,Ltd (GNP JVC) was held in the Great Hall of the People on September 29, 2009, where Chairman of the Board of Directors of CGNPC Qian Zhimin and CEO of HK based CLP Andrew Brandler, representing each party respectively, signed the contract, with Vice President of PRC, Xi Jinping and Chief Executive of HK Special Administrative Region, Sir Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen witnessed the signing ceremony.

Established in 1985 with a total amount of the investment amounting to USD4 billion, GNP JVC is the owner of the first commercial nuclear power plant, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, and the largest Sino-foreign equity joint venture project in the preliminary period of Reform and opening-up, whilst Mr. Deng Xiaoping attended and witnesses the ceremony of signing back then. 70% of its generating power has been exported to Hong Kong. The term of joint venture contract will be extended by twenty years (up to 2034), and the power-supplying term of Daya Bay Power Plant to HK will be extended correspondingly.

Mr. Sean Woo (WU Xiaobing) and a few other key lawyers from Grandall Legal Group (Shenzhen), provided full legal services for the aforesaid project as its special legal advisors.
